McCain Contradicts Himself on Campaign Website

by Josh Nelson  ::  Filed Under Elections 2008  ::  April 4th, 2007 @ 3:03 pm EST

John McCain has been widely criticized for his insistence on Bill Bennet’s radio show last week that “there are neighborhoods in Baghdad where you and I could walk through those neighborhoods, today.” (audio)

While browsing McCain’s campaign site today (don’t ask), I came across this gem in the “in the news” section. The McCain site is highlighting the transcript of an ABC segment on Baghdad in which the correspondent correctly states that “nowhere is safe for westerners to linger.”

Apparently whichever low-level staffer is responsible for finding positive news about the Iraq fiasco didn’t take the time to read the article. Way to go McCain campaign. You’ve successfully made a mockery of your monumental blunder by highlighting an article that directly contradicts one of your key campaign messages.

Nice find! Not surprising really. Given the fact that McCain walked down the street with more than a hundred troops guarding him should point to the fact that things are definitely NOT normal in Iraq.

Exactly.

This reminds me of the Myspace fiasco a few weeks ago where McCain suffered from some vandalism when he hotlinked an image in his profile. It seems as if McCain is not only out of touch with the Internet, but also with the situation on the ground in Iraq.
