People Powered Impeachment: Make your Voice Heard |

Thousands of people have called Speaker Pelosi’s office today asking that Bush and Cheney be impeached. No, this was not a random coincidence. A blogger on Guerilla News Network posted earlier today claiming that Speaker Pelosi was conducting a phone poll asking people to call her office if they wanted impeachment. This story quickly spread around the Internet, making the front page of popular social news sites digg.com and reddit.com. Now that Betaflow has debunked the validity of the poll, the question remains: Can mass phone calls of this kind influence politicians on an issue like this?
This is what we know:
Those that made calls indicated that the woman who answered the phone was very nice, if not amused by the ordeal.
Sometime before 8pm Eastern, after the number was redirected to voicemail, the mailbox was full and not accepting any more messages. I have to assume this indicates that a significant number of people left messages, since members of congress receive a heavy volume of voicemails on a regular basis.
What you should do:
Why should we need a politician sanctioned poll to voice our opinion? We should continue to make the calls and fill as many Democratic voicemail boxes as we can. If enough people join this effort we can let Congress know that we are serious.
Please call the following members of the Democratic leadership and register your support for impeachment. Keep the message simple: I Support the impeachment of President Bush and Vice President Cheney.

Thank you for posting these numbers, Josh, encouraging people to call. It’s high-time the people of these United States collectively called for impeachment of these bozos and mass-murderers in the White House. This is democracy and freedom in action, but only if Pelosi and others actually respond to all of the phone calls pouring in can it be true democracy. I like how Keven Rose of Digg.com responded this week to Digg’s citizens (over the HD DVD key). THAT’S how the U.S government should response to people who make their voices heard. It shows that someone is actually listening to the people. After all, it’s suppose to be a government for the people and by the people.
I think it’s awesome that something like this is happening. I just set up a website to rotate the contact info of a different Congress member every day. Check it out at http://www.makethemlisten.org.

Why would Barack Obama be the next to be called?
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer are logical persons to call… but Obama doesn’t hold a similar position. He is a candidate for the 2008 elections, but so are also many more.
I guess you are trying to support him. Personally I would support Ron Paul as I have researched many candidates and only him and Mike Gravel are onest and outspoken about the important issues. One such example would be their voting patterns (anyone can say anything but the way you vote shows your real intentions):
Ron Paul: “Has consistently voted ‘no’ on civil liberty curtailing issues, and generally ‘no’ on security issues for similar reasons.”
Barack Obama: “He voted against and later for bills to reauthorizing the PATRIOT Act.”

Get a grip. Impeach Pelozi. Make a plan instead of whining all the time. My 2 year old doesn’t whine as much as the democrats. All talk and no action. This is what is wrong. But never an idea of what they would do.
Impeach Bush and Cheney for what? What crime have they committed? They are not saying the war is a failure, like Reid. They are not traveling overseas to comfort our enemies, like Pelosi. Twenty, thirty years ago, the actions of Pelosi and Reid would be considered treason. They should be removed from office and tried for it.

Most Congress People will only accept e-mail messages from their constituents, so enter your zip code to find your reps. Keep the messages short and customized - staffers hate form messages.
Why just contact the Democrats? Call all of them. I can’t tell the difference between the parties anyhow, they are all running a-muck and need a wake up call. Everyone of them need to remember who they represent and if they aren’t doing the job, then vote them out of office. Just my 2 cents.

This is so funny, because I read it wrong and called for Nancy Pelosi’s impeachment.
This is absolutely one of the dumbest things I’ve heard in a long time. Reminds me of when I was asked to sign a petition to allow us to wear shorts in middle school. Everyone’s signing it. I didn’t because I had a brain of my own.

Why, exactly, is it dumb? Do you not agree that Bush needs to be impeached, or do you not agree with these types of mass movements?
I called Barack Obama’s number, and spoke to an actual person. I wonder if they actually pass on these messages.
If they get enough messages you can be sure they will. That’s their job.
I don’t believe for one moment this will convince Pelosi to try to impeach Bush. I don’t think she is that stupid.
But hey, you never know, so go for it. At the very least, it will waste her time, and that’s a good thing. At best, she will go for it, and I can think of no quicker way to get GOP control of Congress than for the Dems to try to impeach Bush.

Impeachment just means “To bring charges against” it doesn’t mean the will be ousted from office.

Nancy Pelosi would be next in line if Bush and Cheny got ousted. But my question is where does it stop? The screw up in Iraq was a team effort going back to the democrats who voted for the war also .
Besides that I beleive that if hearings on impeachment began , Bush will still be making decisions till the next election.Congress and the system take way to long to get anything done,no matter who the majority is.
Is this movement just to humiliate the man , or prove he did something wrong ?

Why are we wasting time calling Senators? They don’t vote on impeachment; they run the trial.
The focus needs to be entirely on the HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, because they are the only legislative body able to impeach Bush & Cheney.
And, for the trolls: if both are impeached, the plan is for the Democratic majority to choose a “token” Republican to finish GWB’s term (think Hagel, Paul) so that accusations of political impropriety would be avoided. If a movement developed in the GOP for re-election, great! This would be a RINO, in your parlance.
If they do bring charges against him , guilty or not , it will take forever to perform all these procedings,and Bush will be making decisions right up untill the next election anyway.So where would that get us , but to humiliate the man ?

Pelosi has been threatened, bribed, or probably both. She is a coward and should be replaced at once. She smugly refers to ‘the will of the American people’ when it suits her, but ignores the same ‘will’ when it doesn’t.
