Political Poetry: The Movement

by Guest Writers  ::  Filed Under Music and Culture  ::  July 6th, 2007 @ 8:26 am EST

We are continuing our series of political poetry with something from Ian Duncan Smith dealing with political movements and power by the people. The poetry starts after the jump.

Revival of an Extinct Species

Those who once had power
Are feeling flesh on their bones.
This is the gift of a New Age
Scraped together with fingertips and nails
And served on its own.

Those who once dictated
Are gathering themselves.
Let them stand.
Watch them move.
They have power once again.
They are what they devour.

Comments, thoughts, and other poetry is appreciated. If you are interested in contributing to our political poetry series, please contact us with your submission.

The power does indeed flow to the people, however slowly or haltingly they react.

Yes, J-Ro, people have power, and politicians have stats.
