Chris Dodd Pushes Congress to Restore Habeas Corpus

This is why I like Chris Dodd and think that he’s an underrated candidate. Instead of pontificating on what brilliant things he would accomplish as president, he goes out there and gets them done now:

I’ve said it before but the issue is too important to not repeat here: I pledge that if elected I will restore the Constitution of the United States in my first hour in office. I won’t wait until then to take action and I’m committed to leading to restore the Constitution from my place in the Senate.

Dodd’s legislation, co-sponsored by Patrick Leahy, would restore the right of prisoners to a fair and speedy trial, to know what they have been charged with, and to have the right to defend yourself.

I’ve signed Dodd’s petition to restore habeas corpus. I urge you to do the same.
