Loonie and Greenback Tied: For the first time in 31 years, the Canadian dollar has caught up to that of its neighbor to the south, the U.S. dollar. The dollar has also hit a new all-time low relative to the Euro…
Bin Laden is back. This time he has something to say to Pakistan.
Pakistan's Election Commission picked October 6th as the date for the country's presidential elections. Will Musharraf win re-election?…the world is waiting with bated breath…
A giant fart from space? A"fiery ball" (possibly a meteorite) that fell from the sky and landed in Peru last weekend has been releasing noxious gases that have sent over 600 people to the hospital. Geologists are on their way to the site to determine its origin and composition.
Is the West ignoring an opportunity to end its nuclear row with Iran?
Israel and Palestine are gearing up for another round of peace talks in November.
Haven't made it over to the blogs today, yet. Got anything interesting I should read?

What do you think about that bin laden statement? Do you think it carries any real weight in Pakistan, or more specifically, Pakistan's cities where the real political power is?
I'm inclined to say he's grasping at straws, but who knows. There has always been a lot of manipulation of the apparent threat of insurgents in Pakistan surrounding elections. Musharraf would like the world (and Pakistan) to believe that he's the only leader capable of keeping the insurgents at bay. At the same time, the threat needs to seem real, so it's a fine balance. I'm guessing Bin Laden's strategy/timing/message are related to these issues in Pakistan and the fact that he is still able to hide out in the borderlands between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Just a hunch, though.
