FISA Update: Telecom Immunity in the Senate |
|
|
As I mentioned yesterday, one of the key challenges to passing some decent FISA legislation this time around is to make sure telecom companies don’t receive amnesty for the laws they broke bending over backwards to accommodate Bush’s illegal wiretapping program.
The House version of the bill that passed the Judiciary Committee yesterday did not give the telecoms amnesty. Today, the ACLU says that the Senate version of the bill does include amnesty.
Time for a little pushback. Here are the names and numbers of Senators on the Intelligence Committee drafting the bill. Give them a call and tell them, “No telecom amnesty!” (Those in bold need a bit of an extra push.)

Called Dianne Feinstein, left a message with the nice receptionist. Call if you can people! It takes 5 minutes and might make a difference.
Senatorial secretaries like to have bill numbers. This bill is H.R.3773 and I don’t think it has a Senate number yet. You should add this information whenever you organize a telephone lobby.
thanks for the update! i’ve also called feinstein. i really hope it makes a difference.
Tried Bill Nelson but his mailbox is full…
