Former PM Nawaz Sharif is planning another return to Pakistan. Also, the pro-Musharraf Supreme Court dismissed the final legal complaint challenging the legitimacy of Musharraf’s re-election.

Pakistan has been suspended from the Commonwealth of Nations following the imposition of emergency rule. Its membership can be restored “pending restoration of democracy and the rule of law”, reports the BBC. Pakistan was last suspended from the Commonwealth when Musharraf seized power in 1999 by military coup; membership was restored in 2004. Though the suspension has little diplomatic value, membership does “open doors.”

An end to the 9-day transit workers’ strike in France seems imminent. A few major high-speed TGV lines are in operation along with half the Paris metro lines; absenteeism has fallen to 14.5% compared to 64% at the start of the strike.

Two scholars–one from the University of Chicago, another from Harvard–who have written a book about the legendary “Jewish lobby” in America called The Israel Lobby and US Foreign Policy have “unleashed a torrent of criticism,” writes the BBC.

Soldiers serving in Afghanistan had an interesting and eclectic Thanksgiving, reports the International Herald Tribune.

In Bangladesh, where fishing and commerce tied to the water keep villages alive, the effects of last week’s cyclone continue to be felt by residents’ whose livlihoods have been destroyed by foul water.
