Algiers Blasts, Republican Lacklustre, Waterboarding, Mike & the Minutemen |
|

Two car bombs exploded in Algiers this morning, killing nearly 50 people in and around government and UN buildings. Though not yet claimed by any group, these are the latest in a string of similar explosions in Algeria this year, the others all claimed by groups linked to al-Qaeda.
The NY Times reports that unlike Democratic voters, Republicans just aren’t that inspired by their choices in the primary.
Amid the C.I.A. tape destruction scandal, a former agent details Abu Zubaydah’s capture and interrogation, and defends the utility of waterboarding at Gitmo. His interview is crazy. But is this him speaking, or is this Agency spin?
And The New Republic on why world powers must keep a firm eye on countries like Burma.

More ways health-challenged politicians would die if they happened to be one of the 47 million uninsured Americans.
Alarming news amongst the Repubs: the man who founded the Minutemen border patrol have curiously endorsed Mike Huckabee, a candidate previously thought to be a mere moderate on immigration.
Speaking of Huckabee: “A wife is to submit herself graciously to the servant leadership of her husband?!”
And finally, though this is quite a funny post from Firedoglake, I personally think we should take it easy on Dana Perino. Unlike her boss, at least she can indulge in a little self-deprecating humor.

Hrm, Perino sounds non-evil when she’s on the radio. You even feel kind of bad for her…
More making fun of Perino…

And yes, she deserves it.
P.S. Lacklustre? I liked Britain alright, but I can do without the spelling…
Ugh, those Venn diagrams are unsightly. That would have been done just as easily with predicate calculus:
So you’re lackluster on my lacklustre, eh? I do apologize - I didn’t realize that was strictly British spelling.
