Bad Intelligence, Arming our Allies, Citibank Bailout, Durbin v. Clinton and Votepoke |

The Bush administration is continuing its tradition of dismissing intelligence reports that don’t justify a pre-emptive military strike on Iran. Bush told Olmert that the conclusions of the latest NIE on Iran “don’t match his own views.” Bush is now urging that the world confront Iran early, before it is too late. Where have we heard that before?
Meanwhile in Saudi Arabia, Bush is trying to quickly push through a $20B weapons deal, in order to shore up support from perhaps our strongest ally in the region.
Chinese and Middle-Eastern banks continue to bail out Citibank, which has been troubled by the sub-prime lending crisis.

Obama promised Wednesday morning on NPR that they would begin calling former President Clinton on his lies. Dick Durbin gets that process underway with a bang (h/t Open Left):
“It was not easy to be against that war back when we cast that vote in October of 2002,” Durbin said. “I was one of 23 who voted against the war. Barack was supportive - one of the few candidates speaking out strongly against it in Illinois.“If President Clinton had opposed that war as strongly as Barack Obama at the time, it would have helped a lot of us who had voted against authorizing an invasion.”
Lindsay Graham: “People of faith want a candidate who can beat radical Islam.” Funny, most people of faith I know don’t want that kind of candidate.
