Hill Pulls a Mitt, and a Rudy

Today Hillary informed us during a press conference that, in late January, she invested $5 million of her own money into her campaign for president.

“Her own money?” inquired Spin Cycle.

“The loan is from Senator Clinton’s share of their [Hillary and Bill's] joint wealth,” said her campaign.

But that’s not the only sign of a money shortage. In addition to putting the Bill/Hill wealth to work, her staff has agreed to work February without pay.

Clearly something is going on here.

Hillary Clinton is offering a package deal of herself and a former president, a former president who is the only successful Democratic presidential nominee of my lifetime, and the (perhaps former) darling of his party.

Hillary Clinton has been a part of the political machine for decades, with all the connections and perks and insider knowledge that implies. And yet, she needs to dig into her and Bill’s collective wallet in order to compete with a junior Senator from Illinois.

Oh my!

Barack Obama has enough people supporting him to out-raise the unstoppable political machine that Hillary Clinton’s campaign was painted as in the not-so-long-ago. He’s getting people who never gave D.C. a second glance to get out and vote. He’s getting people to believe in someone they never thought they’d believe in: a politician.

Regardless of what you think of the man, you’ve got to admit that his candidacy is not politics as usual. He doesn’t have a fortune he can afford to fall back on, he’s never had a coat-tail to ride, and yet here he is.

I, for one, find that mighty refreshing.

I don’t understand women. Doesn’t it bother them that the only reason this women can run for president is due to her husband? Isn’t that what they’re against, having things handed to them by men? You want to earn it, then earn it. It seems they practice a “do as I say and not as I do” motto. I happen to practice what I preach. If I were to say that I don’t want my career and fortune handed to me by a member of the opposite sex I certainly wouldn’t vote for a person who is running for president who embodies everything I’m against. Then again, I have my doubts if Hillary ever rode the crimson wave…………

P.S. At least when I buy drugs with my parents money I admit that it isn’t my money I am spending to get higher than two Christians(I usually do so while laughing doing the crab walk).
