Hillary=Nixon? |
|
|
If this is the bizarro world version of 1968, with Barack as perhaps the closest thing America has seen to RFK since his assassination (there’s problems with that comparison, I know), then is Hillary the equivalent of Richard Nixon? With disarray in the opponents’ ranks, with an unpopular presidency ending, with a cultural backlash in effect, will she be the little-liked figure from the previous administration who slips into power despite the fact that most of the country doesn’t want her to? And then takes a term and half to end an unpopular war, and leaves office mired in scandal?
Just a thought.

Well, hell. You may be right. The comparison is pretty easy to make.
Probably more like McGovern, given the RFK reference. A well-intentioned, experienced legislator with an inability to rally the Democratic Party and reach out to independent voters. I can only hope that this time the candidate with his head on straight can get the nomination and rally past Nixon-McCain-Asshole to victory and a true time of progress.
