New Poll: How Do You Get Your News?

by Jason Rosenbaum  ::  Filed Under Media Issues, Race and Politics  ::  February 8th, 2008 @ 7:55 am EST

This week, we want to know how you get your news. But first, last week’s results:

Last week, we asked you if you thought Obama’s race would play a role in the primary or general election. 50% of you said yes. While 21% weren’t sure, almost one third (29%) said Obama’s race would not play a role. Personally, it’s hard to tell. The media will certainly try to make it an issue, but whether that will really effect voters or not is an open question. Lately I’ve been of the mind that the media plays less of a role in determining people’s voting habits than we may think.

Speaking of the media, this week we want to know what your most trusted source for news and information is. Voting begins in the sidebar on the left.

All of them. Was hard to choose only one. May be more appropriate to say where do you get the highest percentage of your news? Not trying to be a dick just a suggestion. Or maybe I am a dick.

Joey, did you even read the title of the poll? It says MOST TRUSTED you moron!

My vote is internet. Sorry for being a dick.

Ha! Well, no dick was taken…or something like that. Glad you voted.

don’t be so hard on yourself joey. Remember what your doc said about constructive forms of self-criticism and their destructive counterparts.

Self criticism gets things done. Lgs, the truth is there is no doc and never has been. When I need help I call QVC, pretend I am going to buy something, and then get right into my problems hoping the host can help me resolve them. Has about a 15% success rate thus far. - joey

I have reverted to one of the most archaic forms of newsmedia — the FM radio. Two hours of NPR in the morning (the first while sleeping; the second while sentient) and I’m ready for the day.

In terms of making me feel like I know what’s going on in the world, I’d say I trust NPR the most.

After that, it’s online editions of traditional print media (major international papers, etc) followed by traditional print media.

Then again, there are several other options. I recently read a piece in The Economist (print edition) on Twittering on the campaign trail. I wouldn’t say I “trust” twitter but there are definitely plenty of reasons to turn to other “types” of news for non-conventional needs and I guess I trust (or turn to) various media depending upon the sort of information I want.

How could I forget radio? Added it in. Thanks!
