First, if you haven't seen this fantastic video, now is the time.
Then, check out McCain's laughable response:
Anyone who worries about how long we’re in Iraq does not understand the military and does not understand war.
As Think Progress points out, McCain is at odds here with several top pentagon and military officials. Not to mention the American people.
Does anyone other than Chris Matthews still think McCain is a maverick with independent and moderate appeal? I mean seriously, when it comes to indefinite wars and pre-emptive strikes, this guy is to the right of President Bush.
Senator McCain: Please keep talking. The more you do the easier our job gets.

To McCain: Anyone who thinks we should continue to blunder our way through the "war on terror" in Iraq doesn't understand America and doesn't understand what's in America's best interests. Furthermore, war against an ideology cannot be won with military might.
Before accusing the rest of society of not understanding, McCain might want to catch the learning curve. Most of America seems to have moved beyond the "need to win" mentality…and once the military stops backing your efforts to stay the course, you know you're heading in the wrong direction…
I can't wait for Chris Mathews to declare that "John McCain is the guy every American wants to have a beer with".
Yep, he does have "a tingle coming up his leg" for Obama though. ATTN Chris Matthews: That is not a tingle.
I'm hoping that McCain's hawk talk is to appeal to the insanse Warpublican base still crowing about the so-called success of the surge. Once he gets the nod, he'll have to tone it down to win the general election…
That is my assumption as well. We might as well nail him on these things while we can though.
While I think he does turn up his rhetoric to appeal to the 30% that still support Bush, I don't think his policies have changed. Which means I think he means to stay in Iraq for a long, long time.
He has actually been a big war supporter forever. Even though he might dial down the rhetoric in the general, I do think he's to the right of Bush on this. And that's maybe even worse.
