Kosovo’s Independence, Curious George in Africa, 80 Dead in Afghanistan

As Alex mentioned earlier, Kosovo’s parliament declared independence from Serbia today. Tens of thousands immediately took to the streets to celebrate. Unfortunately, violence is already starting to break out and Russia has denounced the decision, citing the potential for further violence.

Bush is very popular in Africa. You know, except for the thousands of protesters.

A suicide bombing just outside Kandahar has left over 80 dead and 90 injured in what the NYT is calling the worst bombing in Afghanistan since 2001. AP:

The attack follows a year of record violence and predictions that the Afghan conflict could turn even deadlier this year.
