Pakistan Elections, Kosovo’s Independence, McCain + GHWB = BFF

Long-awaited elections in Pakistan have been taking place today. Voters have had to brave dangerous conditions and dubious credibility in taking to the polls. Initial results are showing Musharraf’s PML-Q party in third place, while Sharif’s PML-N party looks to gain the most, followed by Bhutto’s PPP. We’ll for sure have a follow up on the results.

In protest of Kosovo’s declaration of independence, Serbia has withdrawn its ambassador from the US. The UN Security Council is at a stalemale, with Russia strongly opposed to the declaration.

With all the stir of the NIU shootings, Cindy Handler asks why aren’t political leaders doing something about this? She points out that this certainly is a problem with our country, since it’s not something that happens as often in other Western democracies. I refer back to an article of mine written after the Virginia Tech shootings.

McCain’s got the support of Bush No. 1, who called attacks that Micky C was not a conservative “absurd”.

At the same time, what about McCain’s Democratic leanings? One man knows about this, an Obama-endorsee, Tom Daschle.

Tomorrow, Wisconsin and Hawaii hold their primaries. Who will win the cheese-collared middle class and Obama’s birth state? Heh, did you like that? Cheese-collared? I thought it was clever.
