Tuesday Roundup & Open Thread

The price of crude oil reached an all-time high today, safely clearing $100 a barrel.

It appears that in Texas, Republican voters are so opposed to Hillary they are voting for Obama!

In the spirit of non-negative campaigning, John McCain makes a genuinely noble statement about Obama.

And speaking of oil, ExxonMobil is trying to persuade the US Supreme Court it should no longer have to pay court-determined punitive damages for the 1989 Exxon Valdez oil spill, because it feels the affected area is rehabilitated. (We seem to be missing the point of punitive damages…)

Seminal readers, what do you have to say this evening?

nice posts all day Mac.
McCain’s reaction was pretty noble, and that’s how McCain got his straight talk reputation. He does very often transcend partisan politics.
An Obama-McCain showdown would really be a respectful debate, focused on the issues, like the issue of whether or not we should get out of Iraq, or morally and economically bankrupt our country by remaining there indefinitely.

That exxon story just makes me angry. Why should it matter if the area is rehabilitated? It cost money to clean up the spill, and the company should foot the bill! What’s so hard to understand about that?
