Cunningham v. McCain

by Lance Steagall  ::  Filed Under Elections 2008  ::  February 27th, 2008 @ 5:46 am EST

The fallout from the Cunningham incident, in which influential Cincinnati radio host Bill Cunningham threw jabs at Barack Obama in order to warm up a McCain crowd, again highlighted the “Maverick’s” inability to rally the conservative base.

After McCain’s repudiation of his comments, particularly his emphatic use of Barack’s middle name Hussein, Cunningham appeared on CNN, saying ” John McCain threw me under the bus, under the ’straight talk express’.” Watch the clip here, read some choice comments below.

“His name is proudly Barack Hussein Obama and people that object to that, they’re the racists. They’re the ones objecting to the name Hussein. I revel in it, I worship it.”

Cunningham then went on the attack, saying …

“I for one, regret that John McCain is the nominee of the conservative party, because John McCain is not a conservative. He ought to be attacking Obama politically and not Bill Cunningham, Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity.

After CNN’s John Roberts said “he [McCain] said he’s never met you,” Cunningham responded …

“He’s got a bad memory … I met him twice, his people called me specifically. His people said ‘you’re the guy we want because you’ve met John,’ … but I’m not gonna meet him again. I’ve had it up to here with John McCain. He’s off the list. I’m joining Ann Coulter in supporting Hillary Rodham Clinton.”

and one last jab …

“John McCain is developing, maybe because of his advancing years, a bad memory.”

Bad news for the McCain camp, particularly since this incident involves the all-important swing state of Ohio. Goes to show, magnanimous gestures aren’t always appreciated, especially when you associate yourself with windbags like Cunningham.

Well Bill Cunningham, if McCain threw you under the bus, it is too bad that that bus did not literally run you over so you are no longer capable of spewing your vile words on the radio waves. Yeah, join Ann Coulter. What a gem she is. Bunch of a__h___s you are.

Bill Cunningham is absurd. He’s just trying to get himself some press time for his crappy radio show. He’d be all over giving Ralph Nader a rimjob if it meant more air time.
