Deadly days…
Two bombs exploded in Lahore, Pakistan this morning, killing 20 and injuring another 100. The BBC reports that over 500 Pakistanis have already died in attacks blamed on Islamist militants in 2008.
Eight more American soldiers were killed in bomb attacks in Iraq yesterday, the largest loss of life for American troops in a year.
About 70 people have died in fighting between an armed tribe and the Sudan People's Liberation Army (SPLA) near the border between north and south Sudan. The SPLA has represented the south of Sudan in sporadic north-south civil war (distinct from the conflict in Darfur) for nearly 25 years, but this latest fighting raises fears that the 2005 north-south peace agreement is in jeopardy.
