Let’s suppose we actually get a Democratic president and broader majorities in Congress–what will be the outcry when we’re not out of Iraq IMMEDIATELY?

I don’t doubt either Sens. Obama or Clinton when they say they want to leave, but when their plans say 12-14 months and conventional estimates say a little while after that, I just don’t know if the people will be satisfied with how long a withdrawal is realistically going to take.

The presidentials are a lost cause, but if you elect some of these Congressional candidates on this mandate, they will not be able to back down from it. At the very least, you’ll get a consistent caucus protest voting every bill they don’t agree with.
