Another misleading Clinton email

by Josh Nelson  ::  Filed Under Elections 2008  ::  April 1st, 2008 @ 10:35 am EST

I’m trying to take it easy on the Clinton campaign, to focus my attention on McCain. They make it hard though, when they send me an email with lies in it almost every day.

Hillary, on Monday:

You have spoken loud and clear over the past few days with a tremendous show of support. Your actions are drowning out the voices calling for this race to come to an end, and I am truly touched that you are so committed to our campaign.

Now we have just a few hours left before our midnight fundraising deadline. This is our last chance to show our strength in the midst of the onslaught from our opponent who wants this race to end before millions of Americans have their say.

Hillary

Barack, on Saturday:

“My attitude is that Senator Clinton can run as long as she wants,” Obama said. “Her name’s on the ballot, and she is a fierce and formidable competitor, and she obviously believes that she would make the best nominee and the best president, and I think that, you know, she should be able to compete and her supporters should be able to support her, for as long as they are willing or able.”

Seriously, Clinton campaign, stop doing this.

Update: Apparently she is saying similar things at campaign events and to the media.

AHHHH! …I agree. And it’s frustrating. Real fucking frustrating.

I’m actually an Obama supporter, but just a note here to be fair: what Obama says publicly and what his camp does privately can plainly be two different things. Its altogether possible he’s saying she can run, but at the same time his minions are lobbying party members to come out against Clinton’s continuing to campaign (e.g. Sen. Leahy) In fact, I think its naive to doubt that.

Its similar to how George Bush ‘43 publicly said the Swift Boat ads were nonsense and John Kerry was a war hero, but in the background his political network was supporting and feeding the swift boat message.

This is politics. Clinton is probably not misleading at all in what she says, in this case anyway.

    All that said, vote Barrack!

Yeah, I’m not exactly sure where the misleading part of this is… I guess somebody’s just got his panties in a bunch.

Nice twist on the scenario according to the Clinton campaign (from the MSNBC article to which you link at the end there)

Democratic Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton accused rival Sen. Barack Obama and his allies of trying to stop people from voting as some of his backers have called on her to drop out of the presidential race.

“trying to stop people from voting”…?

From that email, it doesn’t sound like Clinton realizes the real race for the White House hasn’t even begun. I think the people have spoken; they’ve donated to Barack’s campaign while leaving Hillary’s coffers empty.

An “onslaught”? From “our opponent”? I feel like we’ve entered the ominous present in which some unnamed specter is haunting America, trying to deprive us of having our rights to speak and vote.
