4 RESPONSES to “Primary Watching Parties Tomorrow”

What do you mean the result isn’t in doubt? Don’t buy into the traditional media’s inane focus on “winning” states. The result isn’t who gets the most votes. The result is what the percentages are, and the delegate allocation that results from that. And those are definitely not known. Hell, even from the non-delegate-based viewpoint that Clinton supporters are trying to construct it’s important that Clinton win Pennsylvania big, and that’s not known either.

    Well, sure, I’m with you there, but most of America isn’t. By “the result” I guess I’m talking about “the media spin,” which will be Clinton won. If we’re talking about ending this primary, it won’t happen until after an Obama victory. All eyes are on NC, it seems.

      Keith Ivey says  ::  April 21st, 2008 @ 8:20 pm EST

      Okay, but the media spin will be substantially worse if Clinton wins by 20 points than if she wins by 5. If she wins big then we won’t be able to stop her with NC, at least if the media “surge” narrative helps her win IN. In any case, it seems that IN will be more important than NC.

      Well, maybe. It depends how Obama plays it. If he sets expectations up for a win, then we have a repeat of TX and OH, where you had Obama beating my (and other rational people’s) expectations, but the media played it as a defeat.

      Certainly, if she wins big it’s a big problem, but without the right setup, even a small win could be a big thing for her, media-wise.
