Morning Open Thread: Monitoring Iran’s Atomic Activity

by E-Lho  ::  Filed Under Daily Briefing  ::  April 30th, 2008 @ 8:09 am EST

Iran’s nuclear ambitions are getting some attention in the international arena, and it looks like the international community might be willing to accept the Iran’s agenda for peaceful nuclear development.

After rebuffing the United States’ request that India encourage Iran to relinquish its nuclear agenda last week, India is now encouraging Iran to work with UN inspectors while pursuing their agenda, stating:

“We have said that Iran has the right to peaceful use of nuclear energy while fulfilling her various obligations, and that the right way to do that is through the IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency) to assure the world that she is fulfilling her obligations”

Likewise, Switzerland has accepted Iran’s nuclear security proposal, and is encouraging the rest of the international community to do so as well.

Russia also seems to be on-board for future talks.

If the world accepts Iran’s peaceful ambitions, what will it take to get the U.S. on board?

Maybe the Iranian President should stop having speeches talking about wiping Israel off the map. That might be a good place to start. I just done feel comfortable with people who talk about destroying countries having the means to do so. And who cares is Russia is on board? Of course they are on board, they are trying to get that money. Thats how the Russians do, and if they can get the US mad, thats a bonus to them.

What will it take? How about the truth? Iran is lying to you. The do not have peaceful intentions, they want to nuke Israel.

Some countries don’t like Israel so they let Iran have a bomb as a proxy of sorts.

You clearly don’t have much experience with Arabs, they hate Israel, always have, always will. And that’s the only thing keeping them motivated. Plus they are required by religion to lie to you.

You really think Iran does not want a bomb? I suppose there are all types in the world, but I’m very glad the smarter ones are the ones running the place, and not people who buy into Iran’s propaganda.

C’mon guys.. talking about countries wanting to destroy other countries.. I refer to USA and more specifically Hillary Clinton saying the other day that she will “obliterate iran” if it attacks Israel.. now if that’s not a threat I don’t know what is… why hasn’t this been so magnified then.. double-standars as usual??

    Jason Rosenbaum says  ::  May 1st, 2008 @ 10:17 pm EST

    Yep, and contrary to the Iranian case, we actually have the nukes to follow through on such a threat.

Iran as has much right to the Bomb as America etc. etc. does. The way to make sure Iran never gets the Bomb is for all of us to take them all apart. It is a lie that the cold war ended in the 80’s, for the Bomb still exists. I just read today on OEN that it costs us 100 million $$$ a day just for upkeep on a weapon which must never fall again.
