McCain Supporter Calls Striking Iran "The Prudent Thing to Do"

by Chris Edelson  ::  Filed Under Elections 2008  ::  May 5th, 2008 @ 5:48 pm EST

McCain supporter John Bolton, the former ambassador to the United Nations who once declared "there is no such thing as the UN", calls for military action against Iran, bizarrely declaring it's "the prudent thing to do".

McCain has also casually called for war with Iran, when he infamously sang about bombing Iran.  (Great joke during a time of war).

Obvious question for the media:  "Sen. McCain, do you agree with your supporter John Bolton that striking Iran would be "the prudent thing to do?"

Another obvious question: "Sen. McCain, would there be a place in your cabinet for John Bolton?"

Bolton not only has a temper to match McCain's, he has similarly dangerous views about foreign policy.  It might be worth it for the groupies on the Straight Talk Express to press for answers to these questions.

How Bolton was ever allowed a voice in US government is beyond all comprehension. The only place this Ham-bassador should have in a cabinet is inside one that has been nailed shut.

what's amazing is that the extreme Bolton has endorsed McCain but you'd never know it — he could end up becoming Secy of State without the media asking questions that need to be asked about his extreme statements and actions

I'm sure McCain agrees with him. We just need to get him on record saying it.

    I can't wait for the media to start asking him serious questions

This blog seems overly caught up in trying to get the media to do the right thing - is this some reaction to Fox News (my personal favorite channel)? At best, the media should be impartial (much like Fox News), but that hardly seems possible in this day and age. I've seen it voiced before, but what is the sense in attacking the traditional media unless it is to foist the "blogging" media of "me so much smarter than everyone else" on their shoulders?

    Every time I respond seriously to a comment like this, it turns out to be sarcasm…and every time I respond with sarcasm, the commenter turns out to be serious. Maybe you could just save me some work and tell me which category you fall into?

      I am sorry, Alex, I refuse to be categorized. I guess you'll just have to take me at face value. I will admit that Fox News is not unbiased (just the "right" bias), but other than that I just don't get the blogging media (other than being un-credentialed). So, please, fire away!
