Vote for McCain and Nobody Gets Hurt |
|
|
The thuggishly extreme right winger Daniel Pipes  has suggested that Bush will attack Iran if Obama wins the presidential election in November, but not if McCain wins. This is a not-very-veiled threat to voters: essentially, Pipes is saying that a vote for Obama means war with Iran. It’s just a slightly more polished version of John Travolta/Vinnie Barbarino’s campaign slogan from a Welcome Back Kotter episode: vote for McCain and nobody gets hurt.Â
Pipes is a well-established stalking horse for McCain and is doing his part to undermine Obama, including by lending credence to outrageous attempts to smear Obama .Â
Pipes reportedly played a role in advising the Giuliani campaign–does he have any relationship with the McCain campaign? Whether or not he does, McCain should denounce Pipes’s over the top scare tactics. If he doesn’t, he is implicitly permitting surrogates to do his dirty work for him, trying to scare voters into voting for McCain.Â

John Travolta’s campaign slogan on Welcome Back, Kotter was “Vote for Vinny and Nobody Gets Hurt”.
You are either dating yourself or have been watching too much TV Land.
You’d think that Bush would want to attack Iran if McCain wins because then he could have two senseless wars that would be continued for the next four years. Now, that’s what I call a legacy.
yes, I was thinking only a select few would get the Welcome Back Kotter reference…it cracked me up the first time I saw the Vinny for class president episode
