Show Joe how tired you are. . .

. . . of him.

Senator Lieberman (Party of One – CT) was asked his reaction to this video petition; his response: “I think most people in this country are really tired of this kind of partisan politicking.”

Tired of partisan politicking? You bet your soft, wrinkled ass we are, Joe—but not of the kind above. We’re tired of your kind of partisan politicking, Senator.

Joe Lieberman has been lashing out at real Democrats ever since we had the temerity/good sense not to give him anything resembling meaningful support during his pathetic, short-lived 2004 presidential bid. Since then, he has touted the Bush foreign policy agenda at every turn, even lobbying for a hot war with Iran.

Majority Leader Harry Reid failed to dissuade Lieberman from running against the duly elected Democratic nominee, Ned Lamont, in the fall of 2006, and then, to his everlasting discredit, Reid gave the ex-Dem a committee chair. As head of the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, Lieberman has failed to investigate—no, make that actively opposed investigating—the Bush Administration’s catastrophic failures in the face of Hurricane Katrina.

Now he spends his days performing as John McBush’s shadow/handler/attack dog because it gets a bunch of hatemongering rightwing talk show hosts and unimaginative establishment journalists to show him their pale simulacrum of love.

And yet, strangely, he still has all of his seniority inside the Democratic Caucus.

Joe’s convinced that Democrats are out to get him, so, I think we should show him that just because he’s paranoid doesn’t mean he’s not legitimately the object of our derision.

Do something. Sign the petition.

Don’t be intentionally naive, he hold these positions because should he refuse to caucus with the democrats, they would lose their majority and ALL their committee chairs in the senate.

All very true. But that should read “We%u2019re tired of your kind of partisan politicking, Senator.”

“Majority Leader Harry Reid failed to dissuade Lieberman from running against the duly elected Democratic nominee, Ned Lamont…”
Which is a good thing, because the resulting election showed that Lieberman, not Lamont, had the support of the constituency. Senators are now elected by the people of a state to represent the state’s interests. They are not elected by political parties to represent the state political party’s interest.

Lieberman is a douche, go join the republicans! Traitor.

As unhappy as I am with Lieberman’s stances on the issues, I don’t mind the fact that he has a senior level position because it means he will continue to caucus with the democrats. As it stands right now, the Senate is split -49 Dems, 49 Reps, and 2 independents. With Dick Cheney presiding over the Senate, were Lieberman to switch his allegiance in the Senate the Republicans would be in the majority. This means that the President Pro Tempore would also become a Republican and even if Joe doesn’t vote with the Democrats on all issues, it would look bad to have the Senate majority party switch without an election.

There was no catastrophic Katrina response from Washington , the catastropchi response was from the local government officials who made disaterous decisiins, or shall I say non-decisions.
Now, back to the subject. The Democrats wanted to throw Lieberman away because of his hawkish stance regarding Iraq. That was dirty business. When Lieberman won because the voters know what shenanigans were going on, Reid had to make sure that Lieberman wouldn’t become a Republican because that would have thrown the Senate into a 50-50 situation, thus allowing the Republicans to control the house because of Cheney. Now, here is the money analysis. Lieberman is a religious Jew, and his heart is in the protection of Israel from Iraq, something that the Republican administration and McCain, obviously feel much more strongly about the the Democrats. Being a religious Jew and defending Israel is no reason to bring in an unknown liberal Democrat to dislodge the competent Lieberman.

If the Democrats remove Lieberman, he can vote with the Republicans, and then THEY are the majority and the democrats lose ALL committee chairs, etc. The Democrats have to tolerate Lieberman until they get another Senator.
