Blue America and Color Of Change have this ad (designed by The Seminal!) running in the front page section of the Washington Post today:

Over 200 years ago, we enshrined the rule of law as the only monarch in America. Tomorrow, the Senate will likely vote to shred that precedent. Democrats, “compromising” with Republicans, will act together, in a bipartisan fashion, to destroy your right to be free from search without a warrant. Barack Obama, the politician with the biggest megaphone out there, who said, “To be clear, [I] will support a filibuster of any bill that includes retroactive immunity for telecommunications companies,” will likely miss the vote altogether, and will no doubt break his promise and fail to filibuster. And he will vote for final passage on the bill.

After months of fighting, Constitutionalists everywhere will lose this battle to a corrupt establishment in collusion with a lawbreaking president.

We have no choice but to hold them accountable any way we can, through attack ads, primary challenges, and and grassroots activities. On August 8th, the new Accountability Now PAC is hosting a moneybomb to support these accountability efforts. Please mark it on your calendars and donate.

Clearly, giving money to our politicians isn’t solving anything.

The Constitution has been assaulted since the day it was written, with the attacks being greatly stepped up in 1913 with the slick passage of the Federal Reserve Act. Then there was the 16th amendment, never sufficiently ratified by the states, and struck down by the Supreme Court repeatedly. WW II and the Korean War era were also times of intense erosion of the Constitution. Prior to the sorriest excuse for a President this nation has ever seen, speaking of the bastard currently in office, the last quarter of the twentieth century managed a stranglehold on our beloved Constitution that we never broke free from. Both parties have been active participants in this from day one.

Since the false flag attack of 9/11 we have seen an unparalleled all out war against everything the Supreme Law of our Land stands for.

There is a quote by Thomas Jefferson that is a favorite of mine (Jefferson was the most brilliant of the founding fathers), but I don’t have it stored on this computer and don’t want to misquote. Paraphrasing, he said that we would never fully appreciate the second amendment until we needed it to fight tyranny. If we don’t develop a massive appreciation for, and use the second amendment NOW we can kiss all hope of a free society goodbye.

I remember another quote from The Gulag Archipelago, which I will also paraphrase, that stated that once the people found themselves hopelessly trapped in the Soviet Gulags they wished that they had every one met the thugs who knocked on the doors late at night with anything remotely resembling a weapon because death would have been better than what they suffered.

Whatever your opinion of firearms is, I suggest that you carefully consider the logic in this. If you wanted to take over a country would you want them armed or defenseless?

I don’t give a damn what kind of law any level of government passes, I will continue to abide by my Constitutionally protected liberties ESPECIALLY the first, second, and fourth amendments. Anything they do to monitor, control, or ban private ownership of ANY firearm or prevent you from taking it with you anywhere you damn well please is illegal, which automatically strikes down every single gun law in the nation.

The Constitution and Bill of Rights don’t need “interpreting,” (aka manipulating). Unless you are severely mentally challenged or totally illiterate it is all black and white, tangible, concrete, absolute, indisputable, and makes perfect sense. Anyone who speaks of their “interpretation” of the Constitution is either an idiot, a would be tyrant, or both.

    i dont buy into the idea of one mans attempt to achieve absolute power. i truly believe that all of these individuals making decisions have good intentions. i consider this much more dangerous, because they are genuine. they take privacy away in the name of terrorism. guns away in the name of street crime, free speech away in the name of “hate speech”. and it goes on, and all of these people think that they are doing right. what most dont realize is that any kind of legislation, whatever the intentions, is yet another restriction of liberty and likewise a rod for your own back, because in our society you cannot restrict one persons rights without also restricting your own.
    at some point everyone will look up from their menial individual fights on morality and security and will realize that they didnt just let their inaliable rights slip through their fingers, they gave them away without a fight, indeed praising those that stripped them.
    the terrifying implication is this: when our last remaining rights are pulled from beneath us, where are we to run?

If your not satisfied then ask your Senator when does the First Monday in October fall this year. Then ask him when does the First Tuesday after the First Monday in November fall.
Next ask him to prove it and show him NYTimes Thursday July 17 1952 Vol CI No. 34508 and tell him to add up the days until this July 17th 2008 without using any further edition numbers. If he tells you “don’t worry be happy the Constituion goes back into effect on February 29 Wednesday 2012 ” without throwing you out of his office just reply “your point is you are a Republican”. Just make sure you know what day it is when you do.

Think about it: approval ratings in the low teens, while 94% of seats are still considered ’safe’. It’s been a long time since these people felt any real or direct accountability to the majority of their constituents.

Just because the constitution says you’re allowed to have guns (for the express purpose of forming militias, by the way), doesn’t mean it says that you can take a gun anywhere you want to.

Yeah, the first amendment guarantees freedom of speech, but it’s still illegal to shout “FIRE” in a crowded movie theater.

Even the Washington Post thinks the issue is overblown:

    Jane, Bob Barr is starting to poll in double digits already in some states. He was only nominated late in April so that is amazing.

    Anyone who was a board member of the NRA… AND a privacy consultant to the ACLU is worth a look in my book.

    McCain didn’t vote on the FISA bill and Obama voted yes. Bush got what he wanted so he will sign it.

    Not only is Barr your best bet, You should also check out Ron Paul’s Campaign for Liberty and check with your local Libertarian Party to see if you can help get a liberty-oriented candidate elected to Congress.

    Don’t forget when it comes to Barr as Presidential candidate, he would have the power to appoint Supreme Court Justices too. I was at the LP Convention in Denver, and I might be getting confused, but I think Barr said he would appoint Libertarian Judge Jim Gray or ask his opinion. We need some more libertarian Justices. As seen in the Kelo case on eminent domain and many others, the court has too many statists now.

    I’m not afraid of someone listening to my phone calls, I’m afraid of the loss of my civil liberties. The patriot act is an assault of a person’s right to privacy and civil liberties, liberties (in other words freedoms) that this country was founded on. Anti-terrorism security is a fear campaign that you have obviously lapped up, it is a fear campaign designed to scare Americans into letting the government do whatever it wants. I would be fine if they were only using these measures to listen in upon “suspected terrorists” making “overseas phone calls” but you and I both know this is not the case. Do you really think anti-terrorism security is the sole reason we have not been attacked? The first attack on the World Trade center was in 93, the second in 2001, these things take time and you should pinch yourself if you think the government has halted anything. While normal Americans are being strip searched in airports, terrorists can just walk over the boarder like an illegal immigrant with no problem. It’s funny that you think we are safe because we are “taking the battle to the terrorists” while our main focus is in Iraq which had nothing to do with the attacks. The government should secure the boarders instead of listening in on Americans phone calls!

While the story struck me, as it will everyone, I calmed down enough to think. The government can basically do whatever the hell it wants, what if the attack on the fourth amendment is fake? Everyone gets juiced up and emotional, the hardcore constitutionalists militarize and revolt to be cut down in a hail of gunfire. The government twists the story, we have terrorists in our country, they use this twisted tale to evaporate the rest of the constitution.

Rebellion would be playing directly into their hands, any effort against them they can twist and play off to the stupid majority in their own favor. America hasn’t been America for a long, long time, and we’re sinking further. I take the coward’s way out: I plan to leave when bad goes to worse, while I still have the chance (they’ll inevitably ban everyone from leaving the country.) To where? Sweden is nice, and from my research they appear to have the smartest government. They’re actually moving FORWARD, unlike everyone else on this sorry little planet (even Japan is doing backflips now, damned “Americanization”. By escaping, you give them one less person to oppress, and less tax money to fund their efforts.

We’ve never truly been the “Land of the Free”, that’s the oldest lie in this country, we just build on the lie as time passes. America is a dream, and it’s getting close to time to wake up. Every day, republicans move closer to fascism while democrats move closer to socialism. If you want to ride this mess into the ground, I say pick a side and stick with it. You can’t stop a runaway train with your hands, either get out of the way or hop on.

    You obviously do not understand that Nixon was using the spy power he had in the 70’s to dig-up dirt and attack political rivals. It was this polititzation and abuse of power that was the problem. The answer was implementation of the FISA court and judicial review, to protect the American people from further political abuse.
    Realizing that this administration politicizes even the hiring of lowly DOJ interns, realizing that the Bushies broke the FISA laws from the outset, a lot of the American people think that giving them expanded spying power is simply psychotic in nature.

I suggest that all of us learn to exercise our Second Amendment rights in order to protect our First Amendment rights.

Might I suggest Naomi Wolf’s “End of America”? These actions are not simply movements by a cowardly Congress or an idiotic president, but are a pattern imitated by aspiring tyrants.

Let’s arm ourselves and others while we still can fight this in the public forum.
