Time to Make McCain Play Defense |
|
|
The man behind the (most recent) disgusting ad attempting to smear Obama as a terrorist has been exposed, and the ad itself is beneath contempt. But the media will keep showing it and talking about it, feeding on fears some people may have.Â
For months, I have been asking when McCain will have to explain his friendship with convicted Watergate felon G. Gordon Liddy, a longtime McCain donor who once plotted to murder a journalist and has openly talked about the best ways to kill government agents. The McCain-Liddy connection is much stronger and better documented than the phantom Obama-Ayers ties. Liddy has described McCain as “a good, personal friend.” McCain has told Liddy he is “proud” of him.Â
Why does a man convicted in one of the most notorious crimes in American history count John McCain as a good, personal friend? Why is McCain “proud” of this convicted felon who has advocated violence against the government?Â
The media briefly took notice of the McCain-Liddy relationship, but most Americans have heard nothing about this. The best way to change this is for someone to run an ad that the media can ponder and re-play, as it is currently doing with the Ayers ad. Here’s one that looks pretty good (I’d change the title and reconsider the Hitler stuff, but the clip itself is pretty good–maybe needs some slight tweaking–perhaps add in Liddy’s “good, personal friend” quote.)
If a McCain-Liddy ad hit the airwaves, would CNN and MSNBC start running it? If not, they’d look pretty hypcritical given the way they are giving play to the Ayers ad.
