Cartoon: Leezza in Libya

With lofty statements emphasizing fifty-five tense years of thawing ice, pundits hailed Condi’s trip to Libya as historic. Rice and Gaddafi have become frenemies only a week since Italy and Libya signed a “friendship pact.” Gaddafi only accepted Italy’s gesture of good faith after receiving reparations from the former colonizer. Despite Rice’s sense of denial, this cartoonist knows that the State Dept. will follow Italy’s lead and try to get a taste of Libya’s vast oil fields.

Gaddafi’s thoughts on the dignitary whom he calls ‘Leezza’? “I admire and am very proud of the way she leans back and gives orders to the Arab leaders,” said the colonel.

But how did the Sec. of State really spend her Ramadan abroad? Eating of course.
