Watch the new documentary this weekend!

by Jason Rosenbaum  ::  Filed Under Special Topics  ::  September 12th, 2008 @ 6:10 pm EST

Just want to remind folks to attend a house party this weekend and watch the new documentary about health care by Robert Greenwald at Brave New Films called Diagnosis: NOW! Here’s the trailer:

This Sunday, we’ll be having over 300 house parties all over the country, and a virtual house party online at FireDogLake.com to watch the full documentary. The online house party will be hosted by Ian Welsh, with special guests Jim Gilliam, who’s story is featured in the film, Roger Hickey, co-director of Campaign for America’s Future, and California Representative and health care champion Pete Stark!

So, come join us at a house party this weekend. You can sign up here.

See you there!

I checked two pages deep and found no ‘open thread’ articles so I’m claiming this one in the name of ‘Roylery.’ First, I feel compelled to note how wise I must judge myself for getting out before the political season got into full swing. Just perusing the headlines here one might be led to believe that the whole of the country has shut down in all other regards for the purpose of this election. And I must beseech you all to pay less attention to the two mediocre idiots currently competing for the dunce hat.

Now that that’s out of the way, the real reason I dropped in was to lay this one on ya’ - just in case you had all lost sight of it in your fervor to see Tweedledum win out over Tweedledumber…

“[T]he plaintiffs’ strategy going forward will be two-pronged: To argue that the government collected information in a broader fashion than was allowed under FISA and that the FISA Amendments Act is unconstitutional because it grants the executive branch power to usurp the judiciary.”

    Have you seen http://www.aclu.org/safefree/nsaspying/35942prs20080710.html ?

Lawsuits are moving forward, courtesy of the best defenders this country has, the ACLU. And the EFF. It’s going to take a while, though…

Oh, and open threads are returning with a vengeance shortly… :)
