McCain Forgot to Tell His Webmaster About the Suspension |
|
|
John McCain, yesterday afternoon:
Tomorrow morning, I will suspend my campaign and return to Washington after speaking at the Clinton Global Initiative.
John McCain this morning at the Clinton Global initiative:
As of this morning I suspended my political campaign.
Apparently the talking points didn’t make it around. From JohnMcCain.com, which is still online (8am EST, 9/25):

Looks like they also forgot to tell whoever purchases their Google Ads (click for full size):

Mark Nickolas points out the fact that McCain surrogates are still on TV representing the campaign this morning. What kind of suspension is this?

McCain’s speech at CGI went on and on about his “suspension”–sounded like a campaign talking point more than a principled stand–and Palin will be holding a rally today in Philly. . . or at the airport, anyway.
great post Josh and great comment RW. It turns out McCain suspended nothing–he stayed in Ny last night and this morning, did an interview with Katie Couric last night, spoke at the Clinton event this morning as RW pointed out. This guy must want to make lying into an Olympic event. It turns out whether his campaign was actually “suspended” depends on what your meaning of the word “suspended” is.
uhm.. this “suspension” wasn’t McCain giving up, it was McCain taking a break (and asking Obama to take a break) to go vote to give $700 billion of taxpayer money to the golden parachutes of the banking industry.. For those who aren’t aware, that’s $5000 (yes, five thousand dollars) for each taxpaying american.. so I guess he’s suspending his campaign for a good cause.. spending our money.
except that McCain didn’t really “suspend” anything–as noted, he stayed in NY last night, for hours after he announced his “suspension”. He did an interview with Katie Couric, and was still in NY as of this morning–not in DC, as he had promised. Also, as the main post here notes, McCain’s advertising campaign was not suspended. What exactly did McCain suspend? he merely invoked the word, as a transparent ploy to change the subject away from his plummeting poll numbers
mccain is running scared. people are starting to wake up to the fact that mccain is growing more and more senile every day. his campaign figured palin would have more staying power than a day old diaper. they were wrong. i watched the curic interview with palin………useless as pocket lint. the american people are waiting for the debates to fully wake up. you can run johnny boy but you cant hide.
I agree that McCain is running scared–I think we are seeing him in desperation mode. You’re right about Palin–the buzz is over and she’s not helping him, except with the base. The palin interview with Couric is farce–it’s embarrassing and surreal and scary all at once
