Phonebanking Follow-Up

by Alex Thurston  ::  Filed Under Special Topics  ::  October 8th, 2008 @ 9:00 am EST

Thanks again to everyone who participated in Sunday’s phonebanking effort.

The roughly 315 calls we made represent a tiny fraction of some major achievements.

First of all, a MoveOn email informed me that callers signed up over 17,000 new volunteers this weekend. That army will hit the streets this week in places, including North Carolina, where we made 200 calls.

The 115 calls we made to Ohio will help increase Obama’s lead there, contributing to the likelihood of a landslide - some analysts have said Obama has multiple ways to win without Ohio, so victories there and in places like North Carolina could stack up to an Obama blowout.

Also, for what it’s worth, the Columbus Dispatch estimates that as much as 94% of eligible voters in Ohio could be registered. As long as we can duck most of the dirty GOP tricks on election day, and as long as all these people actually get to vote, we should see a shocking turnout for Obama.

We’ll likely do another online/offline party before Election Day. Email us at seminal@theseminal.com if you’re interested in helping out.
