Green Links: Schweitzer Oversimplifies, Media Backlash Against Clean Energy and Sarah Palin Hates Polar Bears |

You can quote me on this. I don’t care if we grow it, blow it, dig it, or drill it as long as we don’t import it.
The economic and national security elements of energy independence are important, but so is the environmental element. To the Governor’s credit, he does tell a great story about wind energy in the west in the following paragraph.
The NYT explains why the credit crunch will make it harder to generate investment capital for clean energy projects. The Post has a similar article. Joe Romm wonders why nobody is making the same point about investments in nuclear reactors, and then makes a great point:
What’s funny about all of these backlash pieces about this recent former media darling is that for most of the 1990s when I was at the US Department of Energy, we couldn’t buy a story about clean tech. Good news stories really aren’t news. That’s why for all the talk about the liberal media, the traditional media is really conservative. It is a very status quo institution with the long-term thinking of an erection.
Jesse Jenkins informs us of the Bush Administration’s sick parting gift: gutting protections against mountaintop removal. I love mountains has more, including a petition.
Why does Sarah Palin hate polar bears? I’m not sure, but it makes for some nice ads:
Kate Shepperd has a ton of great background information on where the candidates stand on public lands issues.
Have you seen any hot green links lately?
