A Day in the Life of Joe Republican. Joe gets up at 6 a.m. and fills his coffeepot with water to prepare his morning coffee. The water is clean and good because a liberal fought for minimum water-quality standards. With his first swallow of coffee, he takes his daily medication. His medications are safe to take because a liberal fought to insure their safety and that they work as advertised.
All but $10 of his medications are paid for by his employer’s medical plan because liberal union workers fought their employers for paid medical insurance - now Joe gets it too. He prepares his morning breakfast, bacon and eggs. Joe’s bacon is safe to eat because a liberal fought for laws to regulate the meat packing industry.
In the morning shower, Joe reaches for his shampoo. His bottle is properly labeled with each ingredient and its amount in the total contents because a liberal fought for his right to know what he was putting on his body and how much it contained. Joe dresses, walks outside and takes a deep breath. The air he breathes is clean because a liberal fought for laws to stop industries from polluting our air. He walks to the subway station for his government-subsidized ride to work. It saves him considerable money in parking and transportation fees because a liberal fought for affordable public transportation, which gives everyone the opportunity to be a contributor.
Joe begins his work day. He has a good job with excellent pay, medical benefits, retirement, paid holidays and vacation because liberal union members fought and died for these working standards. Joe’s employer pays these standards because Joe’s employer doesn’t want his employees to call the union. If Joe is hurt on the job or becomes unemployed, he’ll get a worker compensation or unemployment check because a liberal didn’t think he should lose his home because of his temporary misfortune. Its noontime and Joe needs to make a bank deposit so he can pay some bills. Joe’s deposit is federally insured by the FSLIC because a liberal wanted to protect Joe’s money from unscrupulous bankers who ruined the banking system before the Great Depression.
Joe has to pay his Fannie Mae-underwritten mortgage and his below-market federal student loan because a liberal decided that Joe and the government would be better off if he was educated and earned more money over his lifetime. Joe is home from work. He plans to visit his father this evening at his farm home in the country. He gets in his car for the drive. His car is among the safest in the world because a liberal fought for car safety standards. He arrives at his boyhood home. His was the third generation to live in the house financed by Farmers’ Home Administration because bankers didn’t want to make rural loans. The house didn’t have electricity until some big-government liberal stuck his nose where it didn’t belong and demanded rural electrification.
He is happy to see his father, who is now retired. His father lives on Social Security and a union pension because a liberal made sure he could take care of himself so Joe wouldn’t have to. Joe gets back in his car for the ride home, and turns on a radio talk show. The radio host keeps saying that liberals are bad and conservatives are good. He doesn’t mention that the beloved Republicans have fought against every protection and benefit Joe enjoys throughout his day. Joe agrees: “We don’t need those big-government liberals ruining our lives! After all, I’m a self-made man who believes everyone should take care of themselves, just like I have.

Well done Jim. I like this post very much. It’s too easy to take these things for granted.
wow, this is powerful
It’s Joey now…..I had a dark dark past……..
and by the way this was good Jim next time pawn of that you coined it I would have liked it even more.
Jim, meet Law of Unintended Consequences.
I believe you two haven’t met before.
Joe can keep his job because republicans don’t over tax his employer. Joe doesn’t realize his benefits were well paid for by his taxes. Joe may not know but competition keeps markets alive today, not some liberal demanding rights. And because Joe may not realize this, Joe doesn’t know that there are too many nice jobs he can have without paying dues to a liberal union that may never do anything for him.
Some things Joe knows is that his coffee is imported. Liberals like taxing imports, and that means his coffee, and probably 90% of his other possessions he owns (which are all probably imported) will be taxed.
Joe knows that liberals are actually socialists, and take his hard earned money and spin it into things like the IRS, so they can take more of his money, and in return, give it out to everyone else who didn’t earn it. You see, liberals feel that you should earn your keep, I understand that, but they all feel everyone should deserve simple freedoms like the food and shelter they didn’t work for.
Most importantly, Joe the republican knows that the liberals today are not the liberals of yesteryear. We are not dealing with human rights in a for or against sense because both liberals and conservatives are for the betterment of the American public. The difference lies in how liberals want to put the important issues on the back burner, and not deal with the whole picture.
Democratic politicians don’t want to see people take their life to the next level. They want the general public to depend on them so they try to keep ‘em down in every possible way. They raise taxes and lay down so much red tape (heavy regulation) to start businesses. I remember I saw an illustration one time that demonstrated how dem politicians would take $1 from the taxpayer to give ‘em 50 cents in services. Liberals want to destroy the foundation of this country. China, India and others are passing us by. Why? We have one of the highest corporate taxes in the world. Wake up loony liberals!
Ed The Proud Republican
Yeah, and the Republicans (Abe Lincoln, the first Republican to be President) freed the slaves.
While this is true, neither the current Republican or Democrat party even remotely resembles the parties when they were founded.
Did you know that immediately following the Civil War, the Democratic Party was the preferred party of the KKK? The KKK were essentially their militant enforcers at the time. Many KKK members were also quite politically active within the Democratic party, some even holding elected office.
On those two examples alone, touting past achievements of either party has very little bearing on what they represent now.
By the time Bill Clinton finished his two terms i was able to start my owm bussines, now 8 years of Bush and 6 years of republican mayority in the senate, i had to stop paying the health insurance for me and my wife, up until a couple a months ago i was paying $8,000 extra a year on just diesel alone. Now don’t tellme i should vote republican, it doesn’t make sense.
I had to leave El Salvador because of the republican’s WAR on communism that killed 70,000 Salvadoreans, Now is history going to repeat itself and am i going to have to leave the USA because of the republicans???
This article never said Democrat or Republican. It said liberal and conservative. What are conservatives conserving anyway? They don’t conserve money, they don’t conserve natural resources, they don’t conserve anything except the profits for the already wealthy! Even the moral issues are usually a smokescreen for their own agendas.
How about having to pass a drug test to receive welfare? I am a liberal, but I feel that if they can afford drugs, they don’t need public assistance. On the other side, how dare the gov’t give trillion dollar no-bid contracts to Halliburton. Bid that work out! Stop the party nonsense and start using common sense!
