Why We Vote: Georgia

by Red Wind  ::  Filed Under Elections 2008  ::  November 1st, 2008 @ 10:00 am EST

Whether you live in the swingin’est swing state or a solid party stronghold, there are many important reasons to vote on Tuesday beyond the crucial contest at the top of the ticket. Through the election, The Seminal will tell you about some of them.

Jim Martin is running for the US Senate from the state of Georgia.

Six years ago, Republican Saxby Chambliss ousted incumbent Democrat and decorated war hero Max Cleland in what was one of the sleaziest campaigns in recent memory. Since then, Chambliss has been one of the Bush Administration’s most reliable votes in the US Senate. Jim Martin, a Vietnam veteran and former State representative and Georgia Commissioner of Human Resources, wants to replace Chambliss’s rightwing claptrap with intelligent approaches to job creation, middle class tax relief, and affordable healthcare for all Americans. Martin also supports a strategic redeployment of our troops out of Iraq, and better care for American servicemen and women once they come home.

If you live in Georgia, vote for Jim Martin on November 4th. If you know folks in The Peach State, give them a call and get out the vote!
