Why We Vote: Minnesota |
|
|
Whether you live in the swingin’est swing state or a solid party stronghold, there are many important reasons to vote on Tuesday beyond the crucial contest at the top of the ticket. Through the election, The Seminal will tell you about some of them.
Al Franken might be best known as a comedian, but he stands a good chance of ousting a real clown, Republican Norm Coleman. Franken has detailed solutions for many of the problems that we face after so many years of Republican rule. His universal healthcare proposals advocate working toward single-payer solutions in pragmatic steps. He believes we were lied into war, and the only way to get out of Iraq is to start withdrawing troops—now—while convening a regional conference including all of Iraq’s neighbors. And Franken also believes we should investigate the private contractors like Halliburton that have squandered so much of our money.
Franken wants to see a real federal commitment to public education with an end to un- and under-funded mandates, and teachers paid as the professionals they are. And Franken’s renewable energy initiative understands that if the federal government would commit to post-hydrocarbon technology the way it once promised to put a man on the moon, we would not only realize energy independence and a cleaner environment, we could start to address global warming, revitalize our manufacturing sector, and create high-paying, high-tech, green jobs.
Al Franken: He’s more than good enough, plenty smart enough, and doggone it, I like him!
If you live in the North Star State, vote for Democrat Al Franken on November 4th. If you know folks in Minnesota, oh, that’s for neat! Call them, and get out the vote!
