Begich Now Leads Stevens by 814 Votes, With Remaining Uncounted Votes from Begich-Friendly Districts

Mark Begich has extended his lead over Ted Stevens (CF-AK) to 814 votes–there are still more votes to be counted, but kos says they are from Begich-friendly districts.  Looks like Alaskans may not have voted for a convicted felon after all, and Gov. Palin may have to keep ranting about William Ayers from Juneau (when she’s not at home in Wasilla raking in per diem for herself and the family), rather than seeking the Senate seat in a special election.  Well done, Alaska.

This is good news, as Alaska was beginning to look like a land of Yahoos (Gulliver’s Travels derivation, not news source). It will be a turnaround of great proportions for that state to have a reputable representative in the Senate for a change.

indeed–too bad that the House race went badly, but very, very, very glad to see this with the Senate race.

well, you’re making me think about taking a different perspective…though I’ve gotta say that, in general, my rule for service in the Senate is: if it wouldn’t fly at Camp F.A. Day, it shouldn’t pass muster in the Senate
