Get Afghanistan Right Week |

As you may have noticed or may have heard, The Seminal has a new project that is going public this week. Along with fellow bloggers, journalists, and progressives, we’ve launched a new website and a new campaign called Get Afghanistan Right.
Get Afghanistan Right is for people who oppose military escalation in Afghanistan, and who support non-military solutions to the conflict. We’re kicking the campaign off with a week of blogging on the topic, and we’re joined by like-minded folks who write for such outlets as Brave New Films, Firedoglake, Daily Kos, The Nation, and others.
You’ve heard us argue against escalation here previously, and you’ll hear more of those arguments throughout this week. Put simply, we can’t afford it, escalation won’t make us safer, the strategy is flawed, it won’t actually succeed, and there are other alternatives we should consider.
The goal of this week of blogging is simple: To raise awareness about the newest surge planned in Afghanistan, to get more bloggers to come out on the record with their position on Afghanistan, and to let people out there who are opposed to escalation know there are like-minded folks organizing to stop the surge.
As the week progresses, we will be posting blurbs of all the posts written for this project on the Get Afghanistan Right website. If you don’t have your own blog to post on, The Seminal accepts guest submissions, or you could post a diary on the open communities at Daily Kos, Oxdown Gazette, or The Agonist.
