The Seminal Comment Policies
The Seminal is a community. We thrive on interaction and idea exchange. In that spirit, below are the comment policies followed by The Seminal’s editors. Hopefully these guidelines will make you, our readers, more comfortable participating in our discussions.
1. We love comments
Any reader’s opinions are just as important as what our authors write themselves. The authors and editors here are citizens of the world just like you and we check our posts regularly to respond to reader comments. The views published on this site have been researched and contemplated, but at their core they are no more valid than yours. Please share your thoughts; we believe they are valuable.
2. We don’t love spam
We use automated spam filtering to weed out most spam comments. We also moderate our comments. The first time you post a comment an editor must manually approve that comment before it appears on our site. After that, you will be able to post comments without manual moderation. We welcome all viewpoints and political affiliations here. The only comments that will be deleted are those that are blatantly self-serving, hateful, advocate violence, or are incoherent. Personal attacks are not welcome. Please keep your comments to a discussion of facts and arguments.
3. Relevant links are encouraged
We encourage readers to link to relevant sources and interesting materials outside our site. We also encourage readers to enter in their own website in our comment form or use their own website as a signature. If you take the time to comment, we think you deserve a link. That said, irrelevant or blatantly self-serving links will be removed as spam.
4. Please keep up the discussion
Our authors regularly check this site and look for comments on their articles. They are more than happy to respond to questions, arguments, and thoughts stemming from their work. There is nothing we would like more than to engage our readers in thoughtful discussion. If you leave a comment, please come back and check to see if one of our authors or editors has responded. You can use your email address to subscribe to the comments of any post and receive emails when a new comment is added by checking the labeled box before you press the Submit Comment button. We will never spam your email address and you can remove your subscription at anytime.
